about Layer'd​

real cake for real families

Hi, I'm Jen - baker, mum of three, and founder of Layer'd.

Layer'd began with a love of food and a deep belief in feeding my family well - even when it comes to sweet treats. I've always wanted cake to feel like real food: full of flavour, made with proper ingredients and baked with care.

​

What started with flapjacks in my home kitchen has grown into a small-batch baking business. I now create indulgent traybakes, brownies and cakes for local coffee shops and postal boxes so you can enjoy delicious handmade coffee shop treats at home. 

Established in 2020, Layer'd was created from a love of food, a passion for baking and the magic of a really good flapjack.

In early 2024, my husband and I packed up our family home in Eccleshill and moved with our 3 kids to the countryside west of Harrogate. I now bake from my own little studio kitchen in the village of Darley - surrounded by fields, fresh air and cake tins.

Over the past four years my bakes have evolved. I now bake seasonally using the best ingredients, from scratch.

I use free range eggs, real butter, regenerative flour, couverture chocolate, rapeseed or olive oil and handmake custards, compotes and caramels.

Every bake is layered with flavour, texture and care. Whether it's for my family or yours, one thing never changes:
